I have a question and my apologies if this is not the proper forum for questions. How "trailerable" is a WWP 19. I'm mainly interested in the ease of raising and rigging the mast. Raising and lowering the mast on a "trailerable" Hunter 23 that I owned was a difficult and terrifying experience to say the least. I live in the Lake Tahoe region of CA and parking a sailboat on Lake Tahoe is not a reality for me. I'm very interested in a Potter 19.
Thank You, Jim Driscoll, Truckee CA jdriscoll@ttusd.org Jim, I'll post answer here as well as email you. I find the P-19 quite trailerable, to wit: I've trailered it thousands of miles on several vehicles. My trips are from Atlanta, GA usually to Panama City, FL or Wrightsville Beach, NC. I've towed it with Volvo 740, Volvo 850, and Saturn SL-2. All are 4 door sedan style cars, and the Saturn is by far the smallest and weakest, yet with care trailers this boat well. As for mast raising, I single hand the mast most every time. Only the first few times were scary. After experience taught me it was no longer trouble. My wife is small statured and can't quite single hand up the mast, but helps out quite a bit. I've seen and sailed on the Hunter 23, and agree that you really need assistance for mast raising.
